Help! I Wrecked My House, Season 4, Episode 4: Midcentury Coastal

Project Overview:

THE HOMEOWNER:

Paige & Tim

THE BUDGET:

$300K

THE STORY:

This project was extremely close to home. My best friends Paige and Tim called me asking for my help renovating their new home. We’ve been best friends for 15 years and I’m even their daughter’s godmother. Paige and Tim purchased their dream home in their dream neighborhood; they’ve seen all of the intense projects I’ve taken on so I don’t know why they thought they could tackle this huge renovation on their own. Whoops! The house was built in the ‘60’s and there were a lot of changes the two wanted to make. I treat every project like it’s my own, but especially with this one, the pressure was on.

THE PLAN:

With a style described as clean, functional, and slightly coastal, and the home already having a midcentury vibe, I decided to stick to a midcentury design style with bold elements. Paige and Tim weren’t afraid of playing with dark colors, I knew this project was going to be a lot of fun. With three months to complete this project (including an addition to the kitchen), there was no time to waste. It was my personal challenge to design this house totally different from what Paige and Tim could have done themselves. I was excited to help make my best friends’ dream home a reality!
